How to arrive in Balestrate

Balestrate was founded in 1307 thanks to King Federico d'Aragona who marked the boundaries off with a crossbow ("balestra"), therefore the name.
In the past also called "sicciara" for the abundance of cuttlefish in the sea front.
Balestrate is located in the wonderful gulf of Castellammare.
Geographically it enjoys of a splendid position, being between two provinces (Palermo and Trapani).
It is very close to Palermo Airport and Trapani Aiport.

We recommend Balestrate as the basis stay, a decision lately chosen by many tourists allowing them to make numerous trips on the three provinces, without leaving long distances behind.

From Palermo's Airport
Taking the A29 Palermo - Mazzara freeway, to go to Trapani. 
Keep going the Freeway and after approximately 15/20 minutes of car, you can see the escapes "Balestrate", "Alcamo", "Castellammare del Golfo"

From Trapani-Birgi's Airport
To take the A29 Palermo - Mazzara del Vallo freeway, to go to Palermo. Keeping going to Palermo, you can see the escapes "Castellamare del golfo", "Alcamo", "Balestrate".

From the port of Genoa's Harbour and Naples's Harbour leave ships and hydrofoils for reaching Palermo's Harbour.Taking A29 Palermo - Mazzara freeway From Palermo's Harbour. After approximately 15/20 minutes of car, you can see the escapes "Balestrate", "Alcamo", "Castellammare del Golfo"

Airport connections

From Palermo airport (Falcone e Borsellino) to the city centre (20 Km approx.)

Bus: every 30 min, from 06:45 am to midnight (it waits for the last flight in case of delays). Stops in Piazza Ruggero Settimo (Politeama Theatre) -approx. 40 min- and at the central station -approx 55 min-. Tickets on board 5€.

Train: every hour, from 05:40 to 23:40. Arrives at the central station after 55 min, with intermediate stops. Tickets on board (or at the station).

Taxi: always plenty available. Takes 20 to 40 min depending on the traffic. Costs approximately 30-40€, calculated on the fare shown on the taximeter plus the supplements for the airport (7.75€), for each item of luggage (0.26€), night run (1.55€), holiday (1.29€).
